About The Office of Justice K.V. Viswanathan, Judge, Supreme Court of India
The Supreme Court of India is the highest judicial forum and final court of appeal under the Constitution of India, the highest constitutional court, with the power of constitutional review. Consisting of the Chief Justice of India and 30 other judges, it has extensive powers in the form of original, appellate and advisory jurisdictions. As the final court of appeal of the country, it takes up appeals primarily against verdicts of the High Courts of various states of the Union and other courts and tribunals. It safeguards fundamental rights of citizens and settles disputes between various governments in the country. As an advisory court, it hears matters which may specifically be referred to it under the Constitution by the President of India. It also may take cognizance of matters on its own, without anyone drawing its attention to them. The law declared by the Supreme Court becomes binding on all courts within India.
About the Internship
The Office of Justice K.V. Viswanathan, Judge, Supreme Court of India, is offering judicial internship opportunities to eligible law students seeking practical exposure to judicial work.
The internship is a full-time, in-person programme commencing from August 2026. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. Interns will participate in an orientation programme at the beginning of the internship covering essential procedures, tools, policies, templates, and protocols to prepare them for their responsibilities.
Eligibility
Applicants must be:
- Undergraduate law students enrolled in:
- The second year or above of a 3-year LL.B. programme; or
- The fourth year or above of a 5-year integrated LL.B. programme.
Mode
In-person.
Duration
Internships will be conducted on a rolling basis from August 2026.
Additional Information
- Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
- Applicants are advised to submit their applications at least five weeks before their intended internship start date.
- Selected candidates will be interviewed telephonically or virtually.
- Confirmation of selection will be communicated 2–4 weeks prior to the commencement of the internship.
- Interns are expected to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism throughout the internship.
- Internships will ordinarily commence on the first working day of every month unless otherwise specified.
