About the Internship

JGLS is offering a Research Internship as part of a larger empirical legal research project involving the structured review and legal classification of publicly available Supreme Court orders. The project combines legal data with technology-assisted research methods to support empirical analysis of constitutional litigation.

Areas of Work

The internship may be particularly suitable for candidates interested in:

  • Constitutional law and writ jurisdiction.
  • Supreme Court procedure.
  • Empirical legal studies.
  • Judicial data and legal technology.
  • Close reading and classification of court orders.

Eligibility

Candidates must:

  • Be in the second year or above of a three-year or five-year law programme.
  • LL.M. students and recent law graduates are also eligible to apply.
  • Be able to read judicial orders carefully, follow a structured coding protocol, and maintain consistency across assignments.

Prior research experience is desirable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

Selected interns will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking structured manual review of publicly available Supreme Court orders.
  • Classifying judicial orders in accordance with the project’s coding protocol.
  • Maintaining consistency and accuracy throughout assigned research tasks.

Training and Benefits
